Privacy Policy

Last updated · September 22, 2026

Key points:

  • We collect what we need to run role-play activities for a course, and nothing for advertising
  • We never sell personal information
  • What a student writes is sent to AI providers to produce the scene, and to no one else outside Party Lore
  • You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information at any time

This policy covers Party Lore Role-play at edu.partylore.com, including launches from a learning management system (LMS). "We" means Partylore Co. "Institution" means the school or college whose course you reach Party Lore Role-play through.

1. Information we collect

1.1 When you arrive from your LMS (LTI)

When you open an activity from Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L or another LMS, the LMS sends us:

  • Your name, if your institution's LMS releases it
  • Your email address, if your institution's LMS releases it
  • An LMS user identifier, so we recognise you the next time you launch
  • Your role in the course (for example, instructor or student)
  • The course the activity belongs to: its LMS identifier and title

We do not currently read your class roster from the LMS, and we do not send grades back to it. If we add either, we will update this policy first.

1.2 When you sign in directly

  • Email and password, if you create an account that way. We store the password only as a secure hash.
  • Google or Discord sign-in, if you choose one. We receive your name, email address and account identifier from that provider.
  • Course invitations. When an instructor invites a student, we store the email address the invitation was sent to.

1.3 When you try an activity without an account

We create a temporary guest account so your attempt can be saved. It holds no name or email until you choose to create an account.

1.4 What you write

  • Your actions and messages in an activity, and the scene the AI facilitator writes in reply
  • The character you create for an activity
  • Attempt records: which activity, when, and how far it went

1.5 Collected automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and request times, in our server logs
  • Cookies: see section 7

2. How we use it

  • To run the activity: to produce the scene, remember what happened, and let a group share one attempt
  • To sign you in and keep your account secure, including emailed one-time codes
  • To connect you to your course, so an instructor's assignment reaches their students
  • To send service email: sign-in codes, password resets and course invitations
  • To fix problems and improve the service

We do not use student information for advertising, and we do not build profiles for anyone outside the service.

3. Who we share it with

3.1 Service providers

  • AI providers (Anthropic, Google, and OpenRouter, which routes to Z.ai): the text of the scene and what participants wrote, so the AI can write the next part. We do not send your email address.
  • Hosting: Railway (application and database) and Cloudflare (this website and network delivery)
  • Email delivery: Resend, for the service email in section 2
  • Sign-in providers: Google or Discord, only if you choose to sign in with them

3.2 Inside your course

People in the same group attempt see what each other writes in that attempt. Your instructor and your institution can see your participation in the course.

3.3 When the law requires it

We may disclose information if required by law, court order or government request, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

3.4 What we never do

  • We never sell personal information
  • We never use student information for targeted advertising
  • We never share email addresses with other participants

4. Student records and your institution

When your institution uses Party Lore Role-play in a course, we process student information on the institution's behalf and only to provide the service. We do not use it for any other purpose, and we return or delete it when the institution asks. If your institution has a separate data agreement with us, that agreement controls where it differs from this policy.

5. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Access a copy of the information we hold about you
  • Correct information that is wrong
  • Delete your account and what you wrote
  • Export your information in a machine-readable format

Email [email protected]. If you reached us through your institution, you can also ask your institution, which can make the request on your behalf. Residents of California, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under their own laws, and we honour them for everyone.

6. Security and retention

  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS). Passwords are stored only as secure hashes.
  • We keep your information while your account is active, or while your institution uses the service for the course.
  • After a deletion request, we delete your information within 30 days. Copies in backups expire within 90 days.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you and your institution promptly.

7. Cookies

We use only the cookies the service needs to work:

  • Sign-in session — keeps you signed in
  • LMS launch session — connects an LMS launch to your course
  • One-time code and trusted device — used when you sign in with email and password

We use no analytics or advertising cookies.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page and tell account holders by email before the change takes effect.
